Revisiting Atlanta

11:00 pm

Last night I bought a one-way plane ticket to Atlanta for Wednesday. I got this ticket because my friend is coming home from Atlanta after spending the spring with her aunt and uncle. She’s been looking for someone to fly down and drive back up to Michigan with her.

I decided that since I’ve been planning on moving to Atlanta anyways, this chance to fly down there would work out really good for me. I could head down a few days early to look for an apartment and try to find a job. My plan is that if I don’t find a good job in Michigan within 3 or 4 weeks, I’m going to pack my stuff and move to Atlanta. I’m looking forward to the trip, because I really liked it in Atlanta earlier this spring. We’ll see what happens!

Musical Baton

4:40 pm

I was passed the Musical Baton from Mo the other day, so here it is:

Total volume of music files on my computer:
5.14 GB—over 1,250 songs

The last CD I bought was:
The Black Eyed Peas - Elephunk… over a year ago!

Song playing right now:
Linkin Park - A Place for My Head

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

  1. Modest Mouse - Float On
  2. The Black Eyed Peas - Labor Day
  3. Creed - My Own Prison
  4. Guns N’ Roses - Patience
  5. Live - Lightning Crashes

Since I don’t know enough bloggers who haven’t already posted about this, I’m going to pass this on to whoever wants to comment. Go ahead and post a comment with your answers!

Amish Paradise

11:29 pm

Just the other day I was up in “Amish country” near Clare, MI, and I was surprised at what I saw. As you probably know, the Amish don’t allow many of the advancements of today’s society into their lives. They usually don’t allow anything that runs on fuel or electricity. But as I was driving by an Amish home, I saw a man mowing the lawn with a gas push-mower. And it wasn’t just any old mower, it seemed to be a nice (but well-used) commercial mower. Come to find out, the same Amish family got their first telephone a few years ago. It sits in a wooden phone booth near one of their barns. From what I hear, the Amish in the area have been a little more lenient lately.

Losing Power

12:39 pm

A few months ago I bought a laptop. I love it. It’s nice to be able to take it places and still work on the computer as if I was at home. I’ve already used it a lot in the short amount of time I’ve had it. But I’ve been having trouble with it lately.

I think I’ve been carrying my laptop around too much. Every once in awhile it will just shut off. I know why, and it’s my fault. I was startled the first time the computer shut off, because I thought something happened to it. Then I realized the battery had fallen out. I put the battery back in, but a few seconds later, it happened again. I thought there really was something wrong with it. That was when I realized the battery lock switch was set to the “unlock” position. How stupid. I locked the battery and thought to myself, “Now that won’t happen again!”

Well, yesterday the battery fell out again. Somehow I’m being careless when moving my laptop around, unlocking the battery switch without knowing it. I’m just hoping I won’t lose something important one day!
